Open Forum meeting with Board Chairman Mike Dunn Saturday May 24 @ 10:00 am Lake Montcalm Public Access Site:

Our meeting was attended by approx. 24 property owners. A donation was collected to pay for new bouys. Thank you to all who donated! Al Hawley raised a question as to why all property owners are not informed about every board meeting and chairman Dunn explained that the Drain Comissioners Office will send out notices to anyone who wishes to attend, all they need to do is to give their address to the office or their board representative and they will recieve an agenda for each meeting. A few other participants also indicated that many do a poor job at discussing the boating traffic rules of the lake including navigating around and not through the bouys as well as our 7:30p-11:00a wake restrictions. Another property owner asked how to become a board member and how the board elects officers, A discussion followed to explain that officers are elected by the board and that to date only 1 person has expressed an interest in joining the board. If anyone is interested in joining the board in the future as vacancies may come, they should get involved now as much as they can to learn what duties and activities you must perform on a volunteer basis. As with any board member position there is specific information about our lake and the programs that we operate that you should have a good understanding for before getting to make vital decisions for everyone. A lake board meeting is currently in the process of getting scheduled, please check back often to see the exact time and date.
